According to Variety American comedian, actress, and author Jenny Slate is in negotiations to join the cast of the forthcoming adaptation of Marvel Comic's Venom. Author of the Marcell the Shell with Shoes on children's books and widely known for her roles in Obvious Child (Donna Stern) and Bobs Burgers (Tammy Larsen), Slate is reportedly in contention to portray the role of an unnamed scientist, in the Sony Pictures Entertainment non-MCU Spider-Man spin-off. We here at Scified suspect that Slate's character will be a comic relief character that may be used to explain to audiences the nature of the Venom symbiote.
Slate will join Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's Riz Ahmed. Directed by Ruben Fleischer for Sony Pictures Entertainment, Venom is set for an October 5, 2018 release.
